£700
Carved oak settle, the back centred with a dated carved oak panel with cherubs supporting an inscribed cartouche 'Gheg Even By Heer Carol's. MVS Sche Pastor. In. Ba Ssevelde Bidt. Voo. R.de. Siele 1674' and with a further carved lion mask panel beneath, in a reconstructed later oak surround with figural caryatids, solid seat with fabric covered cushion, the base centred with a further carved figural panel flanked by figural roundels, width 128cm, height 160cm, depth 52cm
There is a section of moulding missing from the right hand back panel. The carved centre panel appears to have greater age than its Victorian surroundings, as does the figural panel in the centre of the base. On this panel there is a loss to the tip of his beard. This, incidentally, does not have a hinged seat. The foam inside the cushion has disintegrated and the tapestry fabric is soiled and faded to a brown hue.
