A good quality Coalport ornamental jardiniere, circa 1855-60 modelled in the French style with a 'Sardinian' green ground, painted with a panel of flowers attributed to William Cook, opposed by a panel of fruit, raised on four feet, with a pierced rim, marked CSN, 16.5cm high, 26cm wide (small chip to foot) Provenance: Ivor Southorn Collection. This vase is illustrated in Messenger, Michael 'Coalport - 1795-1926' (Antique Collectors Club, Suffolk, 1995), page 256, plate 196. Previously in the C.R. Pilkington Collection. Provenance: Ivor Southorn Collection. Previously loaned to the Coalport Museum for the 'Coalport at the Court of the Tsar -1996 Bicentenary Exhibition'.
