The canvas has been re-lined at some point in the past. There is evidence of a small repair to the sky in the top right quadrant of the painting, confirmed by examination under UV. Further examination under UV reveals no evidence of further repair, restoration or re-touching. The paint surface shows some mottling, most noticeable in the sky - this does not appear to be surface dirt, although there are also spots of dirt on the canvas. The frame appears to be structurally sound, showing expected wear to the gilt finish and the odd small loss and crack to the moulded detail.
