A GROUP OF SIX TO LIEUTENANT COLONEL TUFFIN OF THE 1/33RD AND 16TH PUNJABIS. A group of six comprising British War Medal 1914-1920, unnamed, Indian General Service Medal with Afghanistan N.W.F. 1919 clasp named to Lt R. Tuffin 1/33/PJBS. General Service Medal 1918-62 with Kurdistan clasp named to Lieut R. Tuffin. Indian General Service Medal with North West Frontier Medal 1936-37 named to Major R. Tuffin 3-16 Punjab. War Medal 1939-45 and India Service Medal 1939-34 Medal, unnamed as issued. Born on the 2nd August 1895 at Cowes on the Isle of Wight, he served with the 1/5th (Territorial) Battalion of the Hampshire Regiment during the First World War. Spending the War in India Tuffin then attended the Bangalore Officers Training School being appointed 2nd Lieutenant on the 6th June 1918 rising to the rank of substantive Lieutenant Colonel on the 1st October 1944. By March 1945 at the age of 50 he was deemed medically necessary to return to the United kingdom having seen a varied range of conflicts and engagements which can only have been achieved through a long period of service in India.
