A PAIR OF CHARENTON CONTINENTAL FIGURES after Thomas Gainsborough, portraying the Duchess of Devonshire and the 'Blue Boy,' each painted in tones of blue, with naturalistic bases heightened with gilt and armorial crests 'Cavendo Tutus' (Safe by Caution) and Nobilitatas Virtus non stemma character' (Virtue not pedigree, is the mark of nobility), both bearing underglaze blue mark to the base, approx. 29.5 cm and 27 cm respectively, a white ceramic English pastoral figure with wheelbarrow (3) (Condition Report: wear to the gilt on the bases of both figures, could benefit from a clean)
