Drawings: 31 x 20cm, 30 x 19cm, frames: 32.5 x 22cm, 32 x 21.5cm MORE ABOUT THE ARTIST: Juliet Pannett (née Somers) was born in Hove in 1911, she began drawing at the young age of three and knew that a career as a portrait artist was her calling by the age of 17. She went on to attend Brighton College of Art in the 1920s. Following her graduation, she set up a studio and worked there until her marriage in 1938. She took a few years off painting returning in the 1940s and would then continue to have an extremely successful and long lasting career in portraiture.
She created portraits of general folk to politicians, musicians to royalty. In the 1989 at the age of 78 she was commissioned to paint the Queen at Buckingham Palace. She exhibited at the Royal Academy and Royal Society of Portrait paintings and was awarded an MBE in 1993.
Pieces by the artist are held in many public and private collections the world over. These two portraits presented today are part of the Woodvale Estate Collection.
