A PAIR OF MAHOGANY HEPPLEWHITE STYLE 19TH CENTURY CHAIRS, each with a shield shaped back, with carved & pierced splat back. The centre piece being a Greek style Kylix urn with draped foliage bough & floral roundel. This ancient design was a popular shallow, stemmed & footed bowl used for drinking and became a popular motif in the late 18th early 19th centuries as a decorative element in furniture making; seen in Hepplewhite style furniture from this period. Each of the seats has a needle point floral decorated seat, raised on tapered spade leg to the front. Both are in good/very good condition; there is some old loss/fixes to the carved splat back of one; and some scuffs to legs from use.
