The title page in red and black ink - 'The Works of Sir Edwin Landseer R.A. comprising forty-four steel engravings and about two hundred woodcuts from sketches in the collection of HM the Queen and other sources; with a history of his art-life by W. Cosmo Monkhouse'. Morocco leather boards with gilt tooled decoration and 'Landseer's Works' to the spines and front boards in gilt lettering. Gilt edged text block. The volumes comprise 44 full-page engravings with corresponding explanatory text, 'Examples of Landseer's Early Works' (10 full-page plates and text) and 'Landseer's Works' (168 pages interspersed with 40 'Illustrations on Wood' and 168 'Illustrations in Text').
