A wooden scale model of an African style steam driven River Boat. Named "RIVER QUEEN", 0verall length 97cm with a maximum beam of 20cm, made of varnished teak, fitted with a Bassett Lowke single cylinder double acting marine engine, with a copper pot boiler, and single vertical chimney. Deck is fitted with - a simple forward housing for the ships wheel and integral front facing bench seat, with a red/white canopy overtop. Rear bench seats mounted back to back atop of a glazed covered cabin for bank/wildlife viewing. Fitted with wood topped painted metal and brass railings to deck. With a single rudder, shaft and propeller. NOTE: This model was purchased new in 1936 but was first used 1975. The Engine was rebuilt by John Meade, using the original engine assembly. Sold as a collectors items, so not tested, but we are informed it runs well. A fine looking 1930's style boat housed in a purpose built wooden box with carrying handles. VGC minor wear only. £100 - £150.
