A VICTORIAN SILVER SNUFF BOX, of shaped rectangular form, foliate engraved decoration throughout with presentation inscription to the hinged cover 'PRESENTED TO MR JAMES JOHNSTON By The Farmers and others in the PARISH OF STRICHEN & SURROUNDING DISTRICT, In acknowledgement of his valuable services As A VETERINARY SURGEON 1852', worn gilt interior, maker Edward Smith, Birmingham 1851, 8.6cm x 5.7cm x 2cm, approximate weight 4.4ozt, 137 grams (condition: the top has a dent in the inscription, lid closes flush although overhangs slightly on the right hand side, interior gilding is worn)
