A Japanese Hirado blue & white cistern, 19th century, 日本，平户青花罐，十九世纪 the domed cover with dog of Fo finial, the cistern with a gilded and pierced rim on globular body with lion mask and tongue handles, painted with a mountainous landscape with buildings, with an engraved white metal tap housing, raised on a base with pierced fan shape panels and painted stylised Fo dog masks, on spreading foot, 45.5cm
Dog finial has been off at the rear feet and restored. Its right ear has a tiny rim chip. There is a manufactury firing crack where the cistern joins the base. A small glaze chip on the top of one of the fan shape panels.
