GB.QUEEN VICTORIA 1851 THE AMAZING MONTREAL "RED NUMERALS" COVER. 1851 (13 Dec) LS to Montreal endorsed 'pr. "Canada" St." and "paid late" bearing two 1847 1s green embossed stamps - a divided pair - and an 1841 2d blue, each cancelled by the "466" Liverpool numeral in BRIGHT RED. Posted at Liverpool on 13 December 1851, backstamped 'LIVERPOOL / DE13 1851 / F.R.H.' (Floating Receiving House) double-ring cds. The rate to Canada via America was 1s2s and the Liverpool Floating Receiving House Late Fee was 1s making the 2s2d rate of this franking. Stanley Gibbons lists the 1841 2d with red cancel as 'from £20,000' for an individual stamp and gives no price for an example on cover; the 1847 1s embossed is not listed with cancellation in red. Ex Dillaway, Littaur, and with Mike Jackson 2022 certificate. A stunning, colourful beauty and a major Great Britain philatelic rarity.
