MARTIN BROTHERS GROTESQUE BIRD - 'WALLY 'BIRD'. A large Martin Ware stoneware lidded jar by Robert Wallace Martin, modelled in the form of a grotesque bird in tones of blue and brown. Mounted on a wooden base, the lid signed 'R W Martin Bros, London, Southall, 5-1891', also signed to the base of the jar. Some damages, 17cms high including wooden base, approx 14.5cms high excluding the base.
Lid, seems generally fine.
Jar, sections of the top of the jar have been broken and repaired, with several cracks running from these areas downwards with glued repairs, these are visible inside and less visible on the outside because of the dark colours, some restoration to the rim around those areas.
