John (1199-1216) silver Penny, short cross, class 5b, London, Willelm L (S 1351). Obverse: facing bust holding sceptre with circular pelleted curls, cross pomée initial mark, '+ hENRICVS REX'. Reverse: voided short cross within a beaded circle, quatrefoils in the angles, cross pattée initial mark, '+ WILLEN · L · ON · LVN' around. Weight: 1.52g. Diameter: 19mm. Grade: gVF - attractive tone on good metal with much eye appeal, good Very Fine. Comes with an old ticket.
