Schleicher' inscribed to a plaque attached below, signed by inscription lower right, numbered (26837) in pencil verso, oil on panel, approx. 9.3 x 11.8 cm, frame size: 36.5 x 39.2 cm, gilt mounted, glazed and framed.
Carl Schleicher was a Austrian 19th century realist painter, born in Lviv, who primarily produced genre paintings depicting animated and caricatured religious subjects and peasants. He was a follower of the Austrian painter Ferdinand Georg Waldmüller and heavily influenced by 17th century Dutch painting. On several occasions he exhibited his work at the Österreichisches Kunstverein (Austrian Arts Club)
