A Fine Pair of 19th Century French Cream Stockings or Hose with a decorative whitework and drawn thread front panels, shaped heels, back seam, at the top “PARIS”, the other “A ??? DE LA PAIX”. Together with A Second Pair in similar drawn thread design, the panels slightly wider, bearing red embroidered initials “M L” at the top of each stocking. One stocking is marked “PARIS”. Finally, A Third Pair in cream with floral embroidery to the front, marked “36” to one stocking and “PARIS” to the other (3 pairs)
One stocking of the first pair has a hole by the back seam the size of a thumbnail.
Second pair has foxing, but appear unworn. Third pair with several small holes, some ladders, and yellowing under the foot.
