James Osborne (1940-1992) Jumping Thoroughbred Original Bronze Sculpture Approximately 17 Inches High Signed and Numbered 1/10 Exhibited Kilcock Art Gallery 2004 (Cover Lot). James Osborne moved to Ireland in 1991, and it was here that some of the finest bronzes, his series of horses, were produced just prior to his death in 1992. It was his delight in expressing action which first brought him recognition, and notably, for his revival of the classical animalier sculpture of an earlier era. Adhering to the anatomical strictness of the life models from which he drew inspiration, his work captures the natural fluidity of movement. His work has been exhibited internationally, and patrons included various members of the English Royal family. Original Exhibition Catalogue Included with this Lot
