An English treacle glazed earthenware tobacco box of large proportions, 19th century, the cover modelled as a recumbent lion, the box with acanthus leaf and floral motifs, 32.5cm W x 14.5cm D x 26cm H (at fault)
The lion shows a loss to the tail approximately 6cm long, and a loss to the tongue and left tooth. The cover shows two firing cracks and a flaked loss to the back edge, and further small chips and nibbles around the edges. The box shows a full height firing crack down the back edge approximately 9cm long, a further firing crack to the base, and further chips and nibbles around the top and bottom edges. The floral and acanthus motifs show chips and nibbles to the high points.
