Extensive Spode Royal Lancaster pattern dinner service R8950, cobalt blue with finest gilt decoration. The original design was sold to the White Star Line, and was one of several services used on the Titanic. This more recent production by Spode consists of 90 pieces in total, and is an 8 place service plus additions, and comprises: 8 x tea cups & saucers, 8 demi-tasse coffee cups & saucers, 8 x small cake plate 15.5cm, 8 x side plates 20cm, 8 x starter plate 23.5cm, 8 x dinner plates 28cm, 8 x large soup bowls & saucers, 2 x large tureens and lids (27.5cm wide x 15.5cm high), 2 x large sauceboats & saucers (boat 22.5cm wide), 1 x large cake plate, 1 x large meat plate/platter (27cm wide), condition overall is excellent, see condition report, if it is not showing on your platform, please request this from us. Vendors family have owned this from new, and it has had little use, and been in storage in Jersey for some years. Overall in very crisp, hardly used, condition, with just 2 coffee cups requiring mentioning. Two demi tasse coffee cups appear to have had more use than everything else, and are very slightly discoloured as a result, accordingly, these two cups to not ping clearly like all the other cups. There are no chips, hairline cracks or any significant wear to any of the gilding, bearing out our clients attestation that this service has only ever been carefully hand washed on the scarce occasions that it was used, and then only for special occasions. The plates generally have very light cutlery marks in the glaze which can only be seen by holding the object in a certain light, giving further confirmation this set has had light use only.
