A good and rare Charles I pewter flagon, with rare inscription, circa 1630

Having a knopped bun lid, pierced heart and bar thumbpiece, swan-neck handle with boot-heel terminal, low single fillet to drum and ovolo-moulded foot rim, the wrigglework date ‘1631’ to lid, above a Latin inscription ’SANCTE*MARCE’ (St. Mark) and ‘FILI* REDEMPTOR*MVNDI*DEVS*MISERERE*NOBIS’ to drum (God, the redeemer of the world, have mercy on us), touchmark of maker ‘EA’, (fl.1630-?), (PS1437) to handle, height 26cm
