A PAIR OF VICTORIAN SILVER-GILT MOUNTED CUT-GLASS CLARET JUGS

by Charles Boyton (II), London 1883 and 1885, each with a hinged domed cover surmounted by a lion rampant and bordered by stiff leaves, the broad silver-gilt mount chased with a Bacchus mask and fruiting vine to either side, applied with a naturalistic vine-form handle, the cylindrical section of the cut-glass body cut with a hobnail pattern, the lower spreading section with a panel-cut shoulder above hobnail-cut sides, the undersides star-cut.
