A Georgian stick barometer bearing ivory scale and nameplate indicating it was made by William H Twaddell of Glasgow (fl 1792-1839) - renowned maker of barometers and hydrometers and inventor of the Twaddell Scale. Set in a mahogany case with geometric stringed inlay bordering and inlaid shell motif to hinged door which opens to reveal the bulb with adjustment screw.
