BRITISH CAMEL COMPANY, 1909 - RARE CACHET/DARFUR CAMPAIGN? O.H.M.S. ENV: Real photo type PPC (depicting Coldstream Guards drummers and their camels!) from Khartoum to Suffolk franked by 5m Arab Postman type with 12 Sep. 09 c.d.s.and having most unusual "STAFF OFFICER BRITISH CAMEL COMPANY" cachet in black, the first two words being redacted. Also a 19 Sep. 1916 "ON HIS MAJESTY'S SERVICE" env. with indistinct signature from El-Obeid (Kordofan Province) to Cairo. Cover bears the oval violet cachet "STAFF OFFICE/19 SEP. 1916/BRITISH CAMEL COMPANY" and triangular violet censor (17) mark with a Shellal-Halfa T.P.O. mark of 23 Sep. on reverse. Possibly linked to the Darfur campaign. (2)
