A ROYAL HUMANE SOCIETY AWARD JULY 29 1900. A Royal Humane Society Medal in Bronze (unsuccessful) named to Henry Punshon July 29th 1900. In Elkington and Co. case of issue. The headline 'Bathing Fatality At Roker' was reported in the Sunderland Daily Echo on the 30th July 1900. 'Anthony Patterson, the beloved husband of Sarah Patterson, a strong backwash prevented him from reaching the shore. At great risk Punshon swam out, but in spite of his utmost efforts could not effect the rescue and Patterson drowned. Royal Humane Society case 30777. With copied research.
