The centre primarily decorated in grisaille with details picked out in flesh tones with a couple reclining under a canopied terrace beside a chair, their arms around each other's shoulders, the bearded man wearing a hat, a riverscape in the distance, a band of iron-red and gilt shell-scroll at the border

Ref:
- See Hervouet and Bruneau, La Porcelaine des Compagnies des Indes à Decor Occidental, Paris, 1986, p. 165, fig. 7.70 for a plate with similar central design and a different border.
- Another is illustrated by J. G. Veiga, Chinese Export Porcelain in Private Brazilian Collections, London, 1989, pl. 125, where the author suggested that the scene might be taken from an engraving by Vinckebooms.
