16th century Continental tin glazed niche or alcove, possibly the back of a holy water stoop or font, the central arch depicting Jesus and the Samaritan woman at the well, with decorative foliate scroll borders to either side and dated 1564 to pediment, 74cm x 56cm x approx. 22cm.
Extensive cracking to top of frame, right side and series of cracks to border, left column and centre of niche. Chips to glazed border. Crackle glaze and firing impurities across entire body. Signs of previous repair above Jesus' head. As images.
