1815 Waterloo Medal to Richard Gill 1st Batt 40th Reg Foot replacement clip and ring, multiple contact marks and edge bruising, fair. With copied papers, Cpl Gill was born in Dunster 1789, enlisted 3/8/1807 aged 18, discharged 7/11/26, service papers note he was "Uniformily faithful, trustworthy and brave. He served with the Regiment during the whole of the Peninsula Campaign and in the expedition to New Orleans, was severely wounded in the right ankle at Badajoz in 1811, in the right leg at Badajoz in 1812, also wounded in right thigh at Vittoria and in the head at the Battle of Waterloo, besides many slight wounds in other actions during the late war."
