An early 19th century green baize lined fitted oak case for a pair of 15” flintlock holster pistols, the inside of the lid with retailer’s trade label of “R Essex, Dealer in Guns, Pistols &c No 224 Strand” etc, the lid with folding brass handle, engraved with owner’s initials “W.M.O”, all compartments present and containing brass mounted ebony cleaning rod and 20 bore steel pincer mould. GC (some damage to compartments and slight staining to the lid). Note: Robert Essex is listed as “Silversmith and Dealer in Firearms”, 224 Strand, 1821-33.
