A nameplate, UNIVERSITY OF LEICESTER, from a BR Class 47 diesel locomotive No D1649 built by BR Crewe in January 1965, allocated the number 47065 but number never carried before further renumbering to 47 535 in April 1974. Named on 12 May 1982 by the University Vice-Chancellor and renamed Saint Aidan in September 1995. Allocated new to Cardiff Canton, withdrawn from Bescot in February 1999 and cut up by EWS Old Oak Common by HNRC in April 2004. Cast aluminium, length 80½", in ex loco condition.
