A massive bore (see additional image) percussion game rifle, by Alexander Thomson & Son of Edinburgh, 42½” overall including rubber heel, octagonal barrel 26”, the underside of the breech Birmingham proved for 4 bore and numbered 1226, with single folding leaf rearsight and engraved “Alexr. Thomson & Son”; walnut half stock with chequered fore end and pistol grip, and with horn fore end and pistols grip caps; plain steel mounts. Good Working Order and Condition (rubber heel perished, small repair to butt heel, small split to pistol grip). Stockel lists Alexander Thomson & Son as being at 95 Prince’s Street 1869-1876.
