£100 - £150
A set of wall-hung panels designed and executed by Rosemary Towler in 1977, for the 'Flowers in Pageantry' flower festival hosted at Winchester Cathedral for the Queen's Silver Jubilee, each depicting one of 'The Queen's Beasts' - sculptures which have historically stood to symbolise the ancestral history of the British Monarchy. Each wooden panel is painted with one of beasts and calligraphically described beneath, signed and dated by the artist. The panels (forming part of a group of 10) were previously hung inside the cathedral. Each measures 80cm x 23cm (including frame). (Note: with this lot is a facsimile copy of a map from the 'Flowers in Pageantry' booklet which shows the original location of the panels by the entrance of the Quire in the cathedral). (8)
