The first generation 9-3, was launched in 1998 and continued until 2002. Saab claimed that 1,100 changes were made from its predecessor the 9000, including a revised suspension in an attempt to tighten up the handling characteristics. It featured revised styling with some models receiving a black rear spoiler. It was available as a three or five-door hatchback, and as a two-door convertible.
The 9-3 was available with a 154 hp non turbo engine, and a low pressure turbo engine used in the last generation Saab 900. A total of 326,370 first generation 9-3s were built.
This car has only had one owner. There are 10 stamps in the Saab service book, and is described as being in excellent condition for the year and mileage.
