Large Japanese imari vase, Edo period (late 17th Century), of inverted baluster form decorated with panels of birds and fish in terracotta and gilt, bordered with underglaze blue scrolling karakusa, height 39cm
Some slither chips to the upper rim. The vase is warped and has a slight lean. Much of the gilt is worn from the details of the shoulder. There is wear to the gilt elsewhere on the vase. There are numerous small surface scratches.
No further damages.
