.MARIESCHI On FraMme. 🔴 Michele Marieschi or Michele Giovanni Marieschi, also Michiel (1696 - – 18 January 1744),influenced by Canaletto. also known as Michiel, was an Italian painter and engraver. He is mainly known for his landscapes and cityscapes (vedute), or views, mostly of Venice. He also created architectural paintings, which reveal his interest in stage design Michele Marieschi 1710 - 1743 Marieschi was born and died in Venice. He probably trained under Gaspare Diziani. He worked at the court of Saxony for a time, returning to Venice by 1735. In his view paintings (vedute) he was influenced by Canaletto. In his turn he perhaps influenced the work of Guardi. Little is known of Marieschi’s artistic training and details of his early life remain sparse. He was the son of an engraver who died when Michele was only ten years old. Eighteenth-century sources mention an apprenticeship in Germany; however, this cannot be confirmed. He was certainly influenced by the production of Gaspare Diziani, who was also a witness at his wedding. The work of his maternal grandfather, Antonio Meneghini, also played an important part in Marieschi’s training: Meneghini was a painter who specialised in stage and set design and worked with the Venetian entrepreneur Francesco Tasso on ephemeral decorations for festivals and ceremonies.
