A bound volume containing a total of 27 very rare original comic poems, illustrative of the Cornish dialect as follows: 'Ye Battel of Ye Bonfyres; A Song Sung in Ye Yere of Grace MDCCLXVIII,' Truro: James R. Netherton, 1868, 8 pages, first edition, a dialect poem set in Penzance, not listed in the NUC or the BM catalogue. Thomas Hingston Harvey. 'Harkyology. Mr Theodosius Smitheram’s Account of the Sayings and Doings of the Cambrian Archaeological Association. Recited at Truro, on Thursday Evening, September 4th 1862,' Truro: James R. Netterson, 1862, 15pp, a comic monologue, in dialect, not listed in the nuc. George Henwood and John Henry Daniel. 'Seven Cornish Stories,' first edition, 1869, pub by W. 'A Miscellany of Cornish Humour,' the first piece, in prose, is by George Henwood, who also contributed the first poem, in Cornish dialect; one of the poems is by H. J. Daniel. 'A New Budget of Cornish Poems,' first edition, 1869, pub by W. Wood, Devonport, 48 pages + a woodcut frontispiece, the NUC lists one copy, as follows : The World for Sale/The Leek-Seed Chapel/Mary Anne in Retirement/An Ode to Mevagizzey/Punch and the Men of St Agnes/The Cornishmen and the Cherries/The Giants Staff (A Cornish Legend)/The Miners and the Boat/The Parsons Dream. In a very good to fine condition, 12mo, contemporary half dark blue calf, spine gilt, red morocco label.
