Compass, a good early 20th Century Naval and Military Aero Compass Pattern 200, No. 1488, by Whyte Thomson & Co, Glasgow & South Shields. The liquid filled compass bowl with card in suspension mounted on a shock proof cradle with the outer casing. James Whyte was the successor to David heron, the founder of the firm later to become James Whyte & Co, Glasgow, then Whyte, Thompson & Co, Glasgow and South Shields.
