1711 NEWSPAPER SENT FREE, CLERK OF THE ROAD RECEIPT FOR PAPERS, LARGE PAR. PRO WRAPPER, ETC.; Fine complete 2-sheet 2-4 Oct. 1711 issue of "The Evening Poft" paper to Perth endorsed "Frank Dupplin" with fine Bishop Mark, fine 1820 "G.P.O./Henry Desborough, Clerk of the North Road" invoice for £2-10s-0d for delivering "News-Papers" for 3 months, and remarkable large open-ended wrapper franked from London to Alnwick not endorsed "Par. Pro" but clearly having had printed Parliamentary matter inside (and been over the usual 1oz franking limit) because it was franked by "[Viscount] Howick" (1802-94) who was Secretary of State for War at the time and so had unlimited franking privileges hence no need for him to write "Par. Pro."! Plus 1824/34 pair of free fronts, one signed by "W.E. Gladstone" (future P.M.). Fine and scarce group.
