George III silver clock watch, by James Newby, Kendal, hallmarked London 1790, the outer pair case inscribed to the back 'William Newby, Clockmaker, Kendal' and with pierced and engraved details, enclosing a white enamelled dial with Arabic numerals, pierced and engraved with foliate reserves, the back plate signed and numbered 2035, striking on a bell, 55mm diameter

The case detail is worn on the back of the outer cover including the inscribed cartouche. The dial has a small chip on the extreme edge between 3 and 4 o'clock. There are a couple of small edge cracks between 1 and 2 o'clock and a fine hair crack between 9 and 11 o'clock. Whilst the watch ticks when wound it does not appear to strike.
