A Naval Officers cocked hat by Gievves Ltd, size 7 3/8, a pair of Gieve & Son gilt epaulettes mounted with silver star and fouled anchor, in a fitted case by Gieves with sword belt. With information suggesting originally the property of Captain C.S.Caradale. With an extract from a letter dated 1888 and an envelope, possibly related, now laminated.
NOTE: The historical extract included with this lot presumably came from the seller of these items. This description is taken word for word from the catalogue entry for the medals of Vice-Admiral C.S.Caradale which were sold as lot786 by Dix Noonan Webb on 23rd June 2006. No mention of these items in mentioned in the lot. Therefore the attribution must be tentative at best.
