A collection of 21 photographs by the pioneering mining photographer JC Burrow Mostly in large format. Including rare images of rescued passengers from the Suevic. (The Suevic rescue off the Lizard in 1907 set the record for the largest number of people saved in a single operation in RNLI history, 456 people – a record that still stands today). Also images of Padstow harbour, the old stocks at Looe, Hayle Towans, etc and two copies of Burrow in full masonic regalia. Two copies of a photograph of a fine group of five men, including Burrow himself, with camera on a beach. Also some charming informal family group images, but the identity of the persons, although likely to be Burrow family members, is unknown. Note: Burrow is best known for the groundbreaking images in his book 'Mongst Mines and Miners: being underground scenes by flash-light'. He travelled extensively with his camera, throughout Cornwall. His collection of glass plate negatives are now in the care of the Royal Cornwall Museum.
