COVER; inc. 1831 E (toning) to Dublin headed & countersigned for the Concession Rate for a Corporal "Musician" of the "42 Royal Highlanders" with partly fine black "GIBRALTAR/PAID" arc (crease) and m/s "Paid 1d"; plus 1834 EL (cross-written) from a Gibraltar Garrison Officer to Scotland with v. fine "GIBRALTAR" arc charged "3/1" (with part "[CASTLE DO]UGLAS/[PENNY P]OST", etc. Also 1834 EL prepaid "3/6" to Oporto with v. fine 1st-Type "GIBRALTAR/PAID" arc, plus fine 1835/6 Ship Letter ELs pair to Oporto with v. fine blue oval "C. Est. de N." (Cartas Estrangeiras de Navio; overseas letter by ship) or v. fine brown oval-framed "G.M." (with faint C Est de N mark) - the meaning of this rare GM mark is still in dispute but this is the only example recorded on a cover from Gibraltar. Rare and very fine.
