by A Roden & Son, London 1925, of campana form, the domed cover with a bud finial above a collar of chased leaves, the rim cast with a stiff leaf and egg pattern, the body with twin leaf-capped scroll handles, each embellished with bellflowers and floral paterae, the front of the cup chased with an oval reserve depicting a shipping liner, above a 'medallion' inscribed LONDON SHIPPING FOOTBALL LEAGUE, over a belly clad with acanthus leaves alternating with flowers, raised on a base with a foliate knop and a domed foot with leaf and dart chased border, on an ebonised plinth with applied and inscribed silver plaques, the front plaque inscribed LEWIS CUP / Presented to the LONDON SHIPPING FOOTBALL LEAGUE by SIR FREDERICK W. LEWIS BT., 1925-26. 34cm high overall, trophy 26cm high, 54.3 troy ounces (excl. plinth)
The marks on both the cover and body are crisp and clear. Thee cover fits well. The trophy is in excellent condition without damage.
