SET OF ROYAL DOULTON SIGNED CABINET PLATES, FISH - BIRBECK SNR, CALDWELL & CO PHILADELPHIA. A wonderful set of 12 plates, each hand painted with different species of fish and aquatic plants and landscape views, and with rich gilding around the rims. Each marked on the reverse with the species of fish (Bream, Short Headed Salmon, Rainbow Trout, Tench, Parr, Brook Trout, Welsh Trout and others), each signed J Birbeck Sn, and marked to the reverse with a retailers mark 'J E Caldwell & Co, Philidelphia' (24cms diameter). Also with a Coalport plate painted with Barbel Fish, signed A Perry (22.5cms diameter). (13). ** The set of plates, most seem to be in good condition and ring nicely. There is the odd spot of gilding loss in places to the plates as you would expect over time, but overall they have survived well.
