IRAQ - REMARKABLE PAIR OF 4-COLOUR FRANKING BOMBAY COVERS AT DIFFERENT RATES TO BAGDAD; 12 June 1862 & 12 Sept. 1862 pair of envs. (minor wear) ex Bombay to the same addressee in "Bagdad" both with different 4-colour frankings, all the stamps tied by fair chamfered box FACs of "REMINGTON & Co"; ½a + 1a + 2as + 8as (½oz rate; with m/s "1/5" for 1s-5d credit due to GB), or 1a+4as+2as+8as(2) (3/4 oz rate; with ms "2/10" for 2s-10d credit due to G.B.). Both have fine British P.O. "ALEXANDRIA" transit cds on the reverse; the second cover also has v. fine red "P.P." and "INDIA PAID" marks on the front. Ideal pair for Exhibition.
