More Information

This amp has been fully restored.
The transformers, circuit board and components are original, as is the chassis and the amp has the original bulging mains connector Real hand-wired Marshall on Turret Board, Marshall replaced hand-wiring with printed circuit boards in mid 1973.
The amp has been fully recapped, with the 5 50/50 radial cans, bias supply capacitors and tremolo circuit caps replaced; original germanium transistor kept tremolo working with modern foot switch. The head box is a period correct replacement built by Paul at Zilla Cabs due to the loss/theft of the original. The amp also has a new set of Marshall EL34 installed.
The amp is rare as it has no serial number stamped; Phil Wells at Marshall told the vendor that the Super Tremolo was not very popular so they would make small runs and stamp then when the amps were ordered; Rose Morris were the distributors, so it was likely the amps left the factory without their serial number being stamped.
It is well documented that the amp used to get Slash's famous tone on 'Sweet Child o Mine' was a Tim Caswell modified Marshall JMP 1959T 100 watt Super Tremolo, aka S.I.R. STOCK #39.
In short, as the 1959T has an extra ECC83, the modification consisted of adding an extra preamp gain stage; a master volume control was also part of the modification to #39 since the amp was a pre-master volume model.
