An important 17th Century Wainscot oak Armchair, c. 1680, the back with ornate carved top rail with central foliage design and flowing scrolls, the solid back with carved diamond centre flanked by scrolled open arm, carved with naïve geometric design, the plain solid boarded seat over front turned legs united by border support, on pad front feet.

Provenance:   By tradition, said to have been the property of Dean Jonathan Swift (1667-1745)
Acquired by John Ribton Garstin, Antiquarian & Archaeologist (1836-1917) acquired Bennett & Son Limited (Auctioneers) Dublin 1918 and by Alderman Thomas Kelly (1868-1942) By direct family descent.
