A FINE PAIR OF 12 BORE SHOTGUNS BY WILLIAM POWELL AND SON OF BIRMINGHAM. A fine pair of 12 bore sidelock shotguns numbered in gold '1' and '2', each with 76cm side by side ejector barrels, with various proof marks and numbered 12420 and 12421, the other parts similarly numbered. Marked between the barrels William Powell & Son 35 Carrs Lane, Birmingham. With finely engraved action, sliding safety, twin triggers and finely cross-hatched walnut stock. 118cm overall. In original brass mounted leather travelling case with William Powell label, fitted with cleaning materials, turn-screw, oil and other accessories. With a letter from the gun makers advising that the guns were originally made for a Mr George Mostyn on the 21st November 1910.
Gun number one: Bore size .738 right barrel, .736 left. 20 thickness on both barrels, action tight chamber size 2 1/2. Choke - cylinder in right, half in left.
Gun number two: 733 right 733 let bore size. tight on face choke improved cylinder right, half in left. Barrel thickness 21 right and left, Stock length 14".
