WD & HO Wills - Cigarette Cards - 'Safety First' (1934) - a presentation of original hand painted / drawn artwork for five of the cigarette cards. The original artwork for the cards 'Bicycles Are Made To Carry One Only,' 'Children Stop, Look Right And The Left Before Crossing The Road,' 'Do Not Attempt Free Riding,' 'Never Chase A Ball Or Hoop Into The Road,' Do Not Play With A Dog In The Street.' Each piece hand drawn and painted by artists working at Mardon, Son & Hall in the 1930s. Mounted to a custom-made board (made by Mardons in order to later display the pieces) showing the artwork, the final produced cigarette cards and special printed versions of the text to the rear. The display being hand lined and titled 'Issued in Dec 1934 by W.D & H.O. Wills'. Unique piece of cigarette card history. Total size: 48cm x 65cm.
