2. 1861 First Class certificate in Musketry signed by Maj.-Gen. Charles Hay.
3. 1864 Adjutancy of 11th Foot signed by: Field Marshal the Duke of Cambridge; the Earl de Grey (Sec. of State for War) and Maj.-Gen. Sir Edward Lugard (Military Secretary).
4. & 5.1868 North Durham Regiment of Militia captaincy commission signed by the Lord-Lieutenant and Earl of Durham and associated letter from the office of the Clerk of Lieutenancy in Durham signed by the Deputy Clerk, John Watson.
6. 1871 North Durham Regiment of Militia majority commission, under Lt-Col. Bolton, signed by the Lord-Lieutenant and Earl of Durham
(Thomas G. Miles was the grandson of Lt.-Col. Sir Edward Miles (lots 659, 660 and 661) and father-in-law of Lt.-Col. Wigram Clifford DSO (lot 308))
