A Victorian silver vinaigrette by Edward Smith, Birmingham 1856, of oval form with scalloped borders, engraved scrolling decoration and vacant cartouche to cover, gilt interior with pierced grille, 34mm x 28mm x 10mm, 17.7gms

Overall good. There is a small split to the lid around the hinge. Some slight denting to the edges of the cover and base. Some light wear to the engraved decoration, and general scratching and wear commensurate with age and use. No other denting, splitting or signs of repair to the exterior. Cover opens smoothly and closes flush. Some loss to the gilt interior, most lost concentrated on the grille. Moderate scratching and general wear to the interior commensurate with age and use. No splitting, denting or signs of repair to the grille and hinge. Assay mark to the underside of the cover is heavily worn, but all other hallmarks are crisp and clear.
